Debbie Morris has combined her long experience working in Christian camps with her writing skills to produce a solid curriculum that will be beneficial to campers and leaders alike.
Debbie’s work is based on a simple premise that has become increasingly rare: if the lessons are to be Christian, then they must also be Biblical. So each one of her lessons follows the same, basic recipe. She starts with a Biblical text, explains what it means, thenand only then!moves to the application for the campers.
This is why Debbie’s curriculum will prove to be so valuable to both campers and camps. The campers will learn about the Christian life from the Word of God, which is, as the old catechism has it, “the only rule to direct us how we may glorify and enjoy him.” But perhaps just as valuable, other writers have a reliable model for developing their curriculum. Rather than following the modern approach of starting with an application, then going on a search for a Bible verse that may (or may not!) support it, they can see in Debbie’s work that it all works best when it is the other way round.
I am pleased to recommend it with great enthusiasm and trust that the Lord will bless the campers and counselors who use it.

I think these studies raise the level of sophistication and personal study that campers will be exposed to and participate in. I pray with you that God will use it to draw both campers and staff closer in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

I thought the lessons were very practical and would be profitable for anyone regardless of the age or spiritual maturity. I had many opportunities to remind them to "deny" themselves during the week, and even heard them say it to one another. I think it’s important to have Bible lessons that apply to their lives at this point, and suffering, denying self, and obedience are good topics..

Living With Hope Bible Studies, by Deborah S. Morris, are thoroughly Biblical and Christ-centered. They are practical and full of warmth and passion for personal application. It is refreshing to see materials such as hers whose primary focus is God and His glory, rather than man and his contentment and comfort. Parents whose children use these materials in a camp context can be confident in the content. I recommend them without reservation.

I think it was received very well by the campers. It was a story that many of them knew, but we looked at it a little more closely than they were used to and it was very applicable to their own lives.

The Bible Exploration was very easy to follow and use, especially since I needed to just jump into it without a lot of early preparation. Everything I needed was right in the lesson.
The topics and the questions were of great interest to my campers. They had no difficulty understanding or following the lessons. It was all very timely for each of them as they are all going through difficult times.
My campers seemed to enjoy Morning Watch and were ready each day to do it. I don’t remember ever having to coax any of them out the door to do Morning Watch. I think it was because they were eager to do it.
